It’s not just a question of factual errors. The main problem is that Maupin seems to be trying to fit the conflict into a simplistic anti-imperialist narrative — which in Yemen’s case doesn’t really work.

Outside the mainstream media there has been plenty of independent analysis — by Ginny Hill, Helen Lackner and Iona Craig, among others — but Maupin seems to have little knowledge of the background to the conflict. There’s also plenty of information and discussion of it on my website at al-bab.com

RT is welcome to criticise western media but if it wants to do so it ought to set a good example with its own coverage. Broadcasting stuff like this from Maupin just makes it look ridiculous.
